EL IMPROBABLE VUELO DEL MURCIEGALO
Synopsis
THE IMPROBABLE FLIGHT OF THE FLUTTERMOUSE is the first part of an ongoing audiovisual work, comprised of Cantos I, II, and III. The piece follows a Mexican poet lost in Tokyo and, simultaneously, adrift within his own perception. As he wanders through the city, he observes, photographs, and transforms everything he encounters into poetic material.
The central character, the Bat, is an eccentric, lucid, and unrestrained literature professor whose gaze transforms the urban experience into a dark, melancholic, and apocalyptic reading of the world. His inner voice, combative and categorical, permeates the images as a form of judgment, delirium, and resistance.
The work combines video, still photography, guitar-driven atmospheres, and sound design. Although the order of the situations seems arbitrary and chaotic, it reflects the character's mental state and his fragmented way of inhabiting the city. Several voices intervene in the narration: primarily that of the poet, but also some reflections in Japanese that seem to come from a close witness, perhaps the person editing the material. This presence introduces a layer of metalanguage, as if the film were constructing, remembering, or deciphering itself as it unfolds.
Bio
Marco Casado studied the BA in Communications in Mexico and the Master in Arts in Hypermedia in London UK. He has taken diverse courses in film direction, cinematography, script writing and art. Since 1995 started working with video and sound. The majority of his personal art work is characterized by the convergence of narrative and abstraction, some of it has been shown in national and international festivals. Professionally he has been working in diverse public and commercial projects as Editor, Director and lately as Director of Photography.
