For a while I had the opportunity to live in Germany and be in direct contact with the culture, customs and habits of that nation in a relatively close way. It is common knowledge that there is an idea or ideal of effectiveness, precision or perfection in everything that Germans do. The phrase Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut is an advertising slogan for a chocolate that became widely popular. Sometimes I found it funny to discover that that wasn't entirely true.

Eine Zeit lang hatte ich die Gelegenheit, in Deutschland zu leben und auf relativ enge Weise mit der Kultur, den Bräuchen und Gewohnheiten dieser Nation in direkten Kontakt zu kommen. Es ist allgemein bekannt, dass in allem, was Deutsche tun, eine Idee oder ein Ideal von Wirksamkeit, Präzision oder Perfektion steckt. Die Phrase Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut ist ein Werbeslogan für eine Schokolade, die sich großer Beliebtheit erfreute. Manchmal fand ich es lustig zu entdecken, dass das nicht ganz stimmte.
